Tuna Processing Facility
Fiji-Kiribati Fisheries Bilateral Cooperation
Expressions of Interest

The Governments of the Republics of Kiribati and Fiji are calling for Expressions of Interest (EoI) from reputable, qualified, development partners for the establishment of a tuna processing facility in Fiji.  The facility would process purse seine caught tuna harvested in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Kiribati, and/or by Kiribati-flagged vessels in the waters of adjacent countries.

It is estimated that the Kiribati EEZ is able to sustain a minimum annual catch availability of 200,000 Mt of tuna each year for canning.  The utilization of this catch would be allocated by Kiribati via the currently operating vessel day scheme (VDS), and would ensure long term raw material security for the plant.

It is intended that the development partner establishes the tuna processing facility and operates its functions on a fully commercial basis and shall enter into a strategic development partnership with the two Governments.  The development partner will be required to demonstrate its ability to resource the necessary managerial and technical expertise, marketing arrangements, and investment funding to enable the project to proceed on a commercially viable and sustainable basis.

Expressions of interest are to include the following information as a minimum:

•    Project Consortium
•    Relevant Previous and Current Activities
•    Company Profile(s)
•    Outline of the Development Partnership Envisaged
•    Financial Resources

The closing date for receiving the Expressions of Interest is 1200hrs, Monday, October 3, 2011.

Expressions of Interest may be delivered by courier to the office of Erasito Consultants Limited, 18 Desvouex Road, Suva, Fiji. Alternatively, e-mailed EoIs will be accepted at erasito@connect.com.fj

Specific project parameters for prospective and qualified development partners will be issued to selected respondents for the purposes of developing and negotiating a full commercial offer.
